• About Milan Swolfs
  • Milan Swolfs was born on February 13th 1986 near Antwerp, Belgium. At an early age, he started to take photos while traveling around the globe with his family. He is a self-taught photographer and quickly picked up the basics of the cameras and learnt enhanced lightning techniques. After some successful travel shots, he quickly gained fame as an event photographer, working for some of the biggest event organizers in Europe, but realized that capturing portraits was his true calling.
  • Milan is most known for his fine art portrait photography work in the burlesque and vintage styles. His work is a throwback to the memorable Hollywood glamour of the 20s and 30s, often portraying women in a daring and sexy way, but always delicately and glamourously.
  • Milan is inspired not by the works of other photographers but by studying old cinematography, timeless art and the lightning techniques used by the old Dutch masters like Rembrandt and Vermeer.
  • Milan works all over the globe with the most successful burlesque models and has been featured in many photography journals such as the Leica Historical Society (LHSA) Viewfinder,Medium Format Magazine and several other fashion publications. He plans to publish a curated collection of his best work in the near future.
